چکیده

Tracked mobile robots in the 20 kg size class are under development for applications in urban reconnaissance. For eÆcient deployment, it is desirable for teams of robots to be able to automatically execute leader/follower behaviors, with one or more followers tracking the path taken by a leader. The key challenges to enabling such a capability are (1) to develop sensor packages for such small robots that can accurately determine the path of the leader and (2) to develop path-following algorithms for the subsequent robots. To date, we have integrated gyros, accelerometers, compass/inclinometers, odometry, and di erential GPS into an e ective sensing package for a small urban robot. This paper describes the sensor package, sensor processing algorithm, and path tracking algorithm we have developed for the leader/follower problem in small robots and shows the results of performance characterization of the system. We also document pragmatic lessons learned about design, construction, and electromagnetic interference issues particular to the performance of state sensors on small robots.

Dynamical formation control of wheeled mobile robots based on fuzzy logic

In this paper, the important formation control problem of nonholonomic wheeled mobile robots is investigated via a leader-follower strategy. To this end, the dynamics model of the considered wheeled mobile robot is derived using Lagrange equations of motion. Then, using ADAMS multi-body simulation software, the obtained dynamics of the wheeled system in MATLAB software is verified. After that, ...

Optimal adaptive leader-follower consensus of linear multi-agent systems: Known and unknown dynamics

In this paper, the optimal adaptive leader-follower consensus of linear continuous time multi-agent systems is considered. The error dynamics of each player depends on its neighbors’ information. Detailed analysis of online optimal leader-follower consensus under known and unknown dynamics is presented. The introduced reinforcement learning-based algorithms learn online the approximate solution...

Decentralized Leader Follower Based Formation Cont Rol Strategies for Multiple Nonholonomic Mobile Robots

This thesis develops a hybrid decentralized formation control framework to coordinate multiple mobile robots with nonholonomic constraints. The proposed approach deploys a control theoretic bottom-up approach where, some low level behavior based controllers are coordinated by a discrete event system with supervisory control. The robots are required to navigate in an unstructured environment wit...

Formated Navigation of Mobile Robots Using Distributed Leader-follower Control

This paper presents a formated navigation based on the leader-follower approach. In this approach, the control law of the follower robot includes the states of the leader robot. This is a drawback for implementing the control laws on real mobile robots. To overcome this drawback, this paper proposes a new follower’s control law, called the self-made follower input, in which the state of the lea...
